Minecraft: PS2 Edition was a sandbox game developed by 4J Studios exclusively for the PlayStation 2. The game was a PlayStation 2-exclusive, released shortly after the North American release of the Xbox 360 version. It was also enhanced later and released on Playstation 3. The gameplay of Minecraft is for the player to create structures out of block-based, constructible items. Minecraft is one of the few "sandbox" titles on Playstation 2. There is a large variety of items to find, and you are given a tutorial on how to use them and how to craft better items and progress. There are a number of different ways to "craft", or use items, to progress through the game. The player can use items or create their own using recipes. The player starts with nothing but their hands. And must collect resources by digging them to create tools. There is also the option of digging down into the ground and searching for items below. Because of chests and dungeon collectibles. The game received a direct PSP enhanced conversion and port called "Minecraft: PSP Edition". Which was developed by PortaNext, it was released on December 24, 2013 in North America.
