Nethack 2: The Hackening is a Roguelike video game for the PC platform, developed by Eric "Conan" Hess. It was initially released on September 28, 2011. The game continues the story of Nethack 1 in a new location, a village deep within the underwater ruins of Atreid. It also features more new magic spells, a deck of playing cards and a new random dungeon generation system with unique puzzles. The game also supports hot-seat multiplayer. Nethack 2 uses an entirely new procedural generation system. A seperate model is used for combat, dungeons and monsters, each generated by a seperate process (or simulated program) which then are assembled into a set of worlds, and the puzzles. New types of monsters have been added, such as the fallen star creature and the strange Hellchaser. Players will find the game easier to play with new "Peasant" mode where the game is procedurally generated and reduced to the level of a peasant quest.
